Valorant new map4/12/2024 ![]() ![]() The way I see them implementing a map select is either 1) Lobby votes to choose 1 of 3 (pseudo)randomly selected map choices 2) lobby votes to ban a single map, after which maps are randomly chosen from remaining 6 (or more if we move to bigger map pools) the 3) option is implementing a filter before you pop a lobby. The whole point of having a competitive ladder is for people to compete on equal footing, and that should include an equal chance of getting all of the maps in rotation. If you just wanna queue for what you want, I think that's fine, it's a game after all, but there should be no place for that in the competitive ladder. There's no real way to compare Global Elites who exclusively play Mirage with Global Elites who exclusively play Vertigo. They're not necessarily better at the game, they just take advantage of opponents who don't know the map because it's played so infrequently. "Vertiglobals" - people who only queue for the least popular maps to take advantage of players who queue for any map.When some maps are so dominant, it forces the minority of players that don't like those maps, to play the maps they don't like, either due to queue times or due to pick/ban system in third-party matchmaking (e.g. ![]()
